JOB TITLE/LOCATION:
Plater
Carson City, NV

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

  • Coat ferrous and non-ferrous parts using chemical and electro-chemical plating, treating, and cleaning processes, including cadmium, copper, passivation, and steel cleaner.
  • Plate various ferrous and non-ferrous materials and process experimental and development parts.
  • Determine from blueprint and work instructions the process to be used, the amount of treatment desired and surfaces to be masked.
  • Compute capacity of tanks in relation to product, amount of current to use, measures amount of chemicals and acids to use and determines timing for each process.
  • Design racks on occasion when necessary. Must be able to interpret specifications.
  • Check the functioning of equipment periodically during the process to estimate additional plating time required.
  • Visually inspect parts prior to unloading, for suitable surface for plating and after plating for coverage and buildup.
  • Anodizes, dichromats and chrome pickles parts when volume of electro-plating.
  • Manages inventory of chemicals and recommends ordering in advance of exhausting inventory.
  • Manages the removal of spent chemicals into holding drums and labels drums appropriately.
  • Coordinates with external company to remove spent chemicals from site and maintains manifest log.
  • Wear all provided PPE such as boots, aprons, gloves, sleeves, face shield, safety glasses etc.
  • Titrates tanks daily.

EDUCATION:
High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

EXPERIENCE:
  • Two or more years of plating or processing experience in an Aerospace Manufacturing
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of chemical safety and adherence to Company safety rules is mandatory.
  • Must be able to read precision measuring instruments such as various gauges, meters, calipers, and micrometers as well as blueprints and other documentation similar or comparable to those used by the Company.
  • Able to interpret blueprints, drawings or other specifications of a complex nature and draw conclusions from a variety of concrete variables.
  • Must be able to visually check parts for quality. Requires close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, distance vision and depth perception.
  • Must be capable of applying mathematical operations including the use of fractions and decimals to exacting tolerances ( .0001) as required by plating procedures.
  • Able to organize work flow under close supervision or review.
  • Some knowledge of chemistry and metallurgy as applied to plating operations..
