Position Description
Grounds Maintenance Workers perform landscape, garden and greenhouse duties such as planting, pruning, mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing, weeding and snow and ice prevention and removal; and operate hand and power tools, power mowers, tractor mowers, trenching devices, forklifts and hoists.
This is a seasonal position with the Department of Administration, State Public Works Division, Buildings and Grounds section. It is located in Carson City. This position reports directly to the Grounds Supervisor 1. This position assists existing staff with additional grounds maintenance duties during the peak season of spring, summer, and winter. This position requires a criminal history check and fingerprinting, that are the incumbent's responsibility to pay for. This position will work with and supervise inmate workers. A valid Nevada driver's license is required at time of appointment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
Minimum Qualifications
Six months of experience as a general laborer that included the operation of tools and small equipment; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
