Description:

This is an exempt position and will be paid on a salaried basis in accordance with state and federal law.

Driving is required for this position; screening will be required.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED; 6 years experience in engineering and maintenance or related professional area; technical training in HVAC-R/Electrical/Plumbing.
  • OR
  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or related major; 4 years experience in engineering and maintenance or related professional area; technical training in HVAC-R/Electrical/Plumbing.

Core Work Activities

Managing Engineering Operations and Budgets

  • Work with property and regional engineering leadership to evaluate performance against budget and highlight concerns.
  • Manage physical plant including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems according to SOPs.
  • Administer service contracts to support property needs.
  • Ensure fire crew understands all procedures, equipment, and alarms.
  • Coach and support engineering team to manage controllable expenses.
  • Manage and control heat, light, and power.
  • Develop engineering operating strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Create and manage Engineering budget.
  • Oversee execution of preventative maintenance and asset protection plans.
  • Review financial reports to monitor performance against budget.
  • Proactively address concerns and propose solutions to owners.
  • Communicate departmental goals clearly and consistently.

Maintaining Engineering Standards

  • Supervise construction projects to ensure timely and on-budget completion.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain property life safety systems.
  • Keep licenses, permits, and certifications current.
  • Administer property policies fairly and consistently.

Managing Profitability

  • Manage operational areas within budget by reviewing financial statements and reports.
  • Monitor and manage payroll and controllable expenses.
  • Participate in capital expenditure planning and budgeting.
  • Prepare financial critiques and reports.

Conducting Human Resources Activities

  • Ensure fair treatment of employees.
  • Complete disciplinary procedures and documentation.
  • Use feedback and open communication to address employee concerns.
  • Recognize team contributions publicly.
  • Resolve guest issues and escalate to HR when needed.
  • Maintain ongoing communication within the engineering team.
