The Position

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

This Safety Specialist is within the Division of Industrial Relations, Mine Safety and Training Section (MSATS) located in Carson City, Nevada. MSATS is regulated by Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) Chapter 512, which aims to reduce the frequency and severity of mine accidents by providing training to miners and mine operators. Safety Specialists for MSATS are responsible for conducting safety and health inspections at mines, both above ground and underground, mills, quarries, and related facilities; investigate mine accidents; conduct/provide training to mine employees and provide technical assistance and consultation to mine operators. Incumbents may be required to use a personal vehicle to conduct State business.
