Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 to create a circular supply chain for electric vehicles and clean energy products, making them more sustainable and driving down the cost for batteries. We're doing this by developing and deploying new technologies to increase the scope and scale of recycled and sustainable materials in the global battery supply chain.

Staff Electrical Design Engineer

Redwood Materials is recruiting motivated and accomplished Staff Electrical Engineers to join our Infrastructure Development team. These roles focus on creating a sustainable circular economy for lithium-ion batteries by transforming recycled materials into battery materials for new lithium-ion battery production.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Serving as Electrical Engineer of Record on projects, responsible for electrical deliverables such as specifications, calculations, and permit/construction documents.
  • Designing electrical systems including 35 kV medium voltage feeds, low voltage power distribution, lighting, circuits, raceway, grounding, data, and communications.
  • Performing short-circuit and arc flash studies using SKM.
  • Designing cable tray systems and conduits, performing NEC fill calculations.
  • Conducting photometric lighting studies.
  • Reviewing conceptual designs to identify risks.
  • Ensuring design compliance with codes and quality standards.
  • Developing and improving project workflows and standards.
  • Participating in construction and commissioning activities as a technical point of contact.
  • Collaborating across disciplines on equipment arrangements, diagrams, and material takeoffs.
  • Preparing RFPs, evaluating bids, and reviewing vendor proposals.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer with NCEES record, eligible for Nevada and South Carolina licensure.
  • 7+ years of experience in heavy commercial and industrial sectors.
  • Proficiency in REVIT MEP, Navisworks, Bluebeam, SKM, and knowledge of NEC, IECC, NFPA standards.
  • Ability to prepare electrical specifications and review submittals.
  • Strong communication skills and a passion for sustainability.
