Maintenance Technician

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain, service, and repair all models of commercial laundry equipment such as washers, dryers, ironers, boilers, extractors, presses, stackers, and other machinery.
  • Train, mentor, and assist in the growth of the maintenance team, delegate tasks, and ensure accountability.
  • Establish and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule for equipment.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, including overtime when necessary.
  • Report problems and equipment deficiencies to management.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and plumbing issues.
  • Rebuild pumps, valves, and regulators as needed.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals for operation and repair.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including lock-out-tag-out, hot work permits, and fire watch.
  • Comply with building, fire, and health codes.
  • Respond to emergency calls and assist during incidents like fires or smoke.
  • Inspect projects for quality and safety.
  • Assist in other departmental duties as required.
  • Maintain records of work requests, preventative maintenance, and related paperwork.
  • Ensure optimal building operation under varying conditions.
  • Follow hotel rules and regulations for safety and efficiency.
  • Participate in meetings to stay updated on policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Ability to operate office equipment like photocopiers, radios, and fax machines.
  • Engage in physical activity regularly.
  • Operate hand and power tools including wrenches, hammers, hydraulic jacks, etc.
  • Proficient in English for communication and documentation.
  • Ability to analyze situations for repair or replacement decisions.
  • Interpret data and drawings accurately.
  • Remain alert and calm during emergencies.
  • Use sound judgment and initiative to resolve issues.
  • Organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Handle customer concerns positively and professionally.
  • Follow instructions and maintain professional appearance.
  • Work effectively with interruptions.

Education and Experience

Combination of education, training, or experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift up to 20 lbs regularly, 50 lbs frequently, and 75 lbs occasionally, with appropriate physical movements and stamina.

Perform physical tasks including walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, and reaching during shifts.

Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
