Oracle is looking for a senior-level Electronics Engineer to join a dedicated team responsible for designing and supporting power solutions for Oracle's server architectures. This includes the development and sustaining engineering of AC/DC power supplies, BBUs, BBU shelves, and rack-mounted Power Distribution Units (PDUs), particularly those based on the Orv3 standard. The successful candidate will play a key role in all phases of the product lifecycle, from initial concept and prototyping to final validation and long-term support. A strong background in both analog and digital power control, along with excellent communication skills, is essential.
Design & Development: Work as part of a small team to design and develop new power products, ensuring they meet system requirements and specifications.
Prototyping & Testing: Bring up and test hardware prototypes, developing and implementing comprehensive test plans to validate functionality.
Characterization & Debugging: Conduct hands-on testing and characterization of power hardware in the lab. Lead the debugging and resolution of complex hardware problems related to power.
Validation: Validate the interaction and compatibility of power products (PSUs, BBUs, converters, PDUs) with Oracle server architectures.
Collaboration: Work closely with internal firmware and software teams to implement system-level diagnostics and with internal system teams to ensure power requirements are met.
Vendor Management: Collaborate with external vendors and PSU development companies to ensure power components meet technical and regulatory specifications.
Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers, sharing expertise and guiding their professional development.
Documentation: Contribute to the creation of detailed documentation, engineering reports, and test plans.
Standards & Compliance: Stay current with industry standards and best practices for power conversion, safety, and worldwide compliance related to switchmode power supplies and BBUs.
Education: BSEE with at least 10 years of power electronic engineering experience, or MSEE with at least 7 years of experience.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of the basic functionality of switchmode power supplies and rack-level Battery Backup systems. Experience with I2C/PMBUS communication bus and both Analog and Digital PWM control architectures. Proficiency in using common lab equipment for power electronics testing, including bench power supplies, current probes, AC sources, oscilloscopes, and high-voltage probes. Working knowledge of C++ and Python.
Soft Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Other: Familiarity with industry standards for safety and worldwide compliance. A basic knowledge of network communication is beneficial.
