Job Title

Payroll System Interface & Integration Engineer (Subject Matter Expert)

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of interface and automated spreadsheet uploads for CORE and COMPAS—Colorado's financial and payroll systems.
  • Oversee and administer CORE/COMPAS interfaces and spreadsheet upload processes, including management of interface scripts, translation maps, and templates for spreadsheet uploads.
  • Support all interface jobs and system loading functions, troubleshoot incidents, assist the Tier I Help Desk, and provide nightly cycle reconciliation reporting.
  • Design, test, and implement configuration requests for new or updated interface/spreadsheet uploads; propose alternatives when needed.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot nightly cycle processes; manage help desk tickets and change orders; participate in patch migrations and change management activities.
  • Utilize SQL queries to identify root causes, manipulate data to correct errors, and support audit reporting.
  • Maintain test environments, coordinate environment refresh activities, and support CORE/COMPAS integration administration and security/workflow duties as needed.
  • Collaborate on change management, end-user testing, and business/process improvements; work with users to understand needs and migrate changes/patches into applications.

Core Focus Areas

  • CORE/COMPAS Interface & Automated Spreadsheet Upload: Provide technical guidance as SME, manage interface scripts, translation maps, and templates; support interface jobs and nightly reconciliations.
  • CORE/COMPAS Administration: Monitor nightly processes, manage tickets/changes, participate in end-user testing and patch migrations, and ensure timely customer service.
  • CORE/COMPAS Integration: Support integration functions, assist with BIRT form updates, coordinate with IT/vendor for ECM document attachments, and explore APIs for real-time data sharing.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience Only: At least eight (8) years of professional experience in system administration, including managing and/or developing data integrations and interfaces in finance, payroll administration, accounting.

OR

Education and Experience: A combination of related education and/or professional experience in system administration, including experience with managing and/or developing data integrations and interfaces in finance, payroll administration, accounting, equal to at least eight (8) years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous State Service related to the work
  • Experience with vendor interface tools such as Pentaho or similar data translation tools
  • Experience with cycle-based and/or ad hoc batch processing for financial and/or payroll systems
  • Experience with CGI Advantage ERP
  • Experience with BIRT PDF form generator
  • Experience implementing APIs
