Position

As our new Network Administrator for Voice and Structured Cabling, you will provide technical voice network communications support. You will support network Voice and Video communications technologies and contribute to the development, inside cabling repair, testing, implementing, and maintaining of new equipment. Equipment may include but is not limited to VoIP technologies. Your primary duties will focus on Voice operations and cabling. Additionally, you will process service tickets as they are submitted.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and maintain the voice over internet protocol (VoIP) standards, configurations, and dial plan of the network voice system.
  • Programming of Google voice.
  • Support voice/video network projects.
  • Install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems for CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, and coaxial cables with limited supervision.
  • Install and repair hard-secured phones.
  • Handle daily adds, moves, changes, and incidents.
  • Order circuits and coordinate matters related to structured cabling to support project efforts and deliverables.
  • Triage daily tickets and route to the appropriate staff for completion.
  • Respond to critical outages and end-user technical issues escalated through the enterprise service desk.
  • Engage vendors and outside consultants as needed to support agencies' networks and communications infrastructure, including contacting vendors for assistance with structured cabling, MAC work, and remote assistance across the state.

Hybrid/Travel

Hybrid Workplace: Employment involves a set schedule with a combination of remote and in-office days. Travel: Occasional travel to locations across the State of Colorado, with expenses reimbursed per policy.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of professional experience as a dedicated Network Voice provider in a managed service or medium to large size professional environment.

One year experience with structured cabling. There is no substitution or equivalency for this special qualification.

Substitutions

Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications. Training or certification related to the work assigned will be credited toward substitution but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications. If the minimum qualifications include a degree requirement, additional appropriate paid or unpaid experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant years of State Service in a position with similar duties.
  • Two or more years of professional work experience in information technology network operations and support, including:
  • Voice Over IP (VOIP) system administration and Voice system programming
  • Conferencing systems
  • Quality of Service (QoS)
  • Dial plan design and administration
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer service skills
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) related to Network/Wireless technologies
  • Demonstrated experience using project management methodology
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Sheets and Docs

Conditions of Employment

OIT employees must comply with screening procedures at state entity locations. A pre-employment background check is required. Some agencies may also require a pre-employment drug test. This position may require travel within the state.

If the posting indicates "remote from anywhere in CO," periodic reporting to the primary state work location is required. Remote work must be performed in Colorado. Relocation to Colorado may be required on day one of employment, with a reasonable timeframe established.
