We're looking for a Court Security Officer to join our team and play a vital role in maintaining the integrity and security of our court system. In this dynamic position, you'll help ensure a safe environment for judges, staff, and the public while supporting the smooth operation of court proceedings.
Examples of Duties
Under general supervision, you will:
* Ensure the safety and security of courtrooms, facilities, and personnel.
* Supervise individuals participating in court programs and specialty courts.
* Conduct drug and alcohol testing with professionalism and discretion.
* Maintain courtroom order and assist judges during sessions.
* Monitor security systems and respond swiftly to emergencies.
* Arrest individuals, serve warrants, and transport detainees as needed.
* Provide personal security for judges and maintain custody of inmates during court appearances.
* Handle evidence, maintain detailed records, and prepare accurate reports.
* Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and testify in court when required.
Typical Qualifications
We're seeking candidates who are:
* Experienced - 2+ years in law enforcement preferred.
* Certified - Nevada P.O.S.T. Category I certification required.
* Qualified - High school diploma or GED required; must be a U.S. citizen, 21+ years old, and able to pass a background and medical exam.
* Skilled - Strong communication, de-escalation, and report-writing abilities.
* Prepared - Able to work in high-stress situations and extreme conditions with professionalism and calm.
Required Certifications
* Valid driver's license
* Nevada P.O.S.T. Category I certificate
* First Aid and CPR certification
Key Competencies
* Knowledge of law enforcement and courtroom procedures
* Proficiency in firearms and non-lethal force techniques
* Ability to operate emergency vehicles and navigate challenging environments
* Familiarity with criminal justice databases and office software
* Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to respectful, ethical conduct
Supplemental Information
Physical & Environmental Demands
* Must be able to run, climb, restrain individuals, and lift up to 100 lbs.
* Requires stamina for extended periods of standing, sitting, or squatting.
* Exposure to outdoor elements, traffic, and high-stress environments is expected.
