Position Overview

The State of Arizona Department of Revenue (AZDOR) is seeking a Tax Collector 2 to support statewide tax collection efforts. This role involves managing assigned cases across various tax categories, including Individual Income, Corporate Income, Withholding, and Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT). The Collector will contact taxpayers via phone and occasional field visits, educate them about compliance, and facilitate resolution of tax delinquencies.

This is a fully remote role, but only candidates local to the Greater Phoenix area will be considered (must attend in-person Day 1 orientation).

Responsibilities

Review taxpayer accounts and verify key information.

Contact taxpayers via phone to resolve delinquent tax liabilities.

Schedule field visits to residences, businesses, or workplaces as needed.

Educate taxpayers on compliance and available online resources.

Negotiate payment arrangements and document actions across systems.

Participate in asset seizure/sales when required.

Maintain accurate and thorough documentation.

Meet all performance and engagement expectations.

Required Skills

Strong multitasking and communication abilities (verbal & written).

Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Workspace.

Solid math and problem-solving skills.

Organized, dependable, goal-oriented, and customer-focused.

Preferred: Spanish-speaking candidates.

Experience

Required:

Two recent positions of at least one consecutive year each in a fast-paced call center.

Background in finance/banking, insurance, or telecommunications industries (non-technical support).

Preferred: Process improvement experience.

Education

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred: Associate's degree or higher

Additional Details

Local candidates only (must attend 1st-day onsite orientation).

Training: 3–6 weeks (8:30 AM–5 PM). Attendance is critical.

Fully remote after training.

Must have hardwired internet or 5G router (bring on Day 1).

Equipment transport required (no public transit).

Background check, fingerprinting, and 5-year Arizona tax filing record verification mandatory.

Potential for future permanent hire based on performance and dependability.
