The University of Nevada, Reno, Human Resources Department seeks candidates for the Director, HR Operations and Benefits.
The Director, Human Resources, manages multiple human resource functions, including, but not limited to, human resource software systems and processes, benefits, and accommodations. This position is responsible for providing effective employee data management, employment data, and employee services at the University of Nevada, Reno.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide oversight for HR Workday operations and benefits for UNR-Med faculty, postdoctoral scholars, letter of appointment, resident/fellows
- Provide advice to department management or employees and respond to problems and questions related to policies and procedures.
- Liaise with UNR-Med financial on resident benefits offering, benefit audit findings, and exceptions to policy
- Develop and maintain policy recommendations, reference materials, internal procedure documents, training materials, etc., related to assigned employee types and partner with Med HR Business Partner where there is overlap
- Resolve complex academic, LOA, and medical resident pay concerns with UNR-Med departments. Provide guidance to administrators on problem areas and the structure of unique situations.
- Advise department management or employees and respond to problems and questions related to policies and procedures
- Oversight of HR Operations and Benefits to include managing people; optimizing efficiency; ensuring campus, NSHE, State, and Federal policies are enforced; protecting employee data; identifying opportunities and seeking solutions
- Oversee the COLA, retention, and longevity processes, including system testing
- Analyze processes to recommend and implement continuous improvement solutions; develop work-arounds for system issues and communication resolutions; and direct change initiatives that increase service levels or efficiency
- Liaison with Workday Training Specialist to identify training needs and focus
- Work closely with NSHE and system computing staff to resolve problems, implement system enhancements, and resolve HR data use for other institution systems
- Identify configuration and/or security changes needed to support operational needs in the areas of HCM Core and HCM Compensation
- Oversee system updates to reflect NSHE P&G schedules, ensure Classified schedules are updated, analyze academic equity requests, and evaluate LOA exception requests
Related Experience:
HR Operations, HRIS Management, project management, and benefits or some combination of Human Resources experience to include progressively responsible employee management.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and five (5) years related professional work experience; OR Master's Degree and four (4) years related professional work experience.
Compensation Grade:
Grade D

Grants-in-Aid for Faculty Employees:
The University is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. Dependents of faculty have unlimited credits, but in order to be eligible, children must be unmarried and under the age of 24 and must receive at least 50% of their financial support from the employee and/or the employee's spouse or domestic partner.
