Senior Accountant

The University of Nevada, Reno Foundation is seeking a Senior Accountant to support the Foundation's day-to-day accounting operations. This position plays a key role in managing financial systems, reporting, and compliance processes that support the University's philanthropic and advancement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the Foundation's financial systems (Financial Edge) and ensure integration with university platforms such as Workday, Endowment Manager, and Raiser's Edge.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor financial policies and procedures in collaboration with the Foundation Controller.
  • Provide technical and procedural guidance to users of Foundation financial systems.
  • Manage daily and monthly financial reporting, including ad hoc and one-time reports for the University.
  • Oversee account reconciliations and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Assist with year-end financial statements and coordinate with independent auditors during the audit process.
  • Support specialized projects such as system upgrades (e.g., transition to Blackbaud NXT) and focused areas including cash management, worktag oversight, and university reimbursements.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field and four (4) years of related professional work experience OR Master's Degree in Accounting or related field and two (2) years of related professional work experience.

Related experience: Experience should include managing daily accounting functions, reviewing complex transactions, and preparing financial reports. Familiarity with financial systems, internal controls and compliance standards is essential or related experience.

  • Occasional travel may be required

Compensation Grade:

Administrative Faculty C

Salary is competitive and commensurate with related education and experience.
