Senior Tax Associate

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Tax Associate to join our well-established and profitable regional CPA firm. Salary: DOE per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations of varying complexity.
• Assumes full responsibility for larger tax returns, delegating tasks as necessary while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge and proficiency in advanced technical skills necessary for client advisory.
• Ensures that all assignments are accomplished within allocated budgets and timeframes.
• Delegates and manages tax research projects to produce accurate and efficient results.
• Handles and manages governmental tax examinations, representing clients before taxing authorities as required.
• Continuously assesses and reviews tax staff capabilities, assigning tasks based on qualifications and project demands.
• Oversees and provides training to tax staff, fostering a learning environment to enhance skills and knowledge.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• At least two years' experience in public accounting, with a demonstrated progression in tax complexity and scope.
• Minimum of one year's experience in supervising and directing the work of tax preparers.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
• Proficient with tax software and technologies.
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations and obligations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Taxation is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with a range of tax forms and requirements for different kinds of entities.
• Advanced certification such as CPA.
• Experience in a leadership role within a tax department.
• Proven track record of reducing clients' tax liabilities through effective tax planning and compliance.
• Deep analytical skills and attention to detail.
