The Cook I is a skilled culinary professional responsible for advanced preparation, production, and presentation of menu items in accordance with Hyatt's quality standards. This role works across multiple outlets including Osteria Sierra, Cutthroat's Saloon, Banquets, and In-Room Dining. The Cook I maintains a clean and efficient workstation, ensures consistency and quality, and serves as a mentor to junior cooks while supporting a culture of excellence, teamwork, and care.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Prepare, cook, and plate menu items to recipe specifications, ensuring consistency in quality, presentation, and timing.
• Set up and maintain assigned stations with all required mise en place, tools, and equipment.
• Supervise and train Cook II, Cook III, and seasonal culinary staff as needed.
• Ensure all food products are stored, labeled, rotated, and used following Hyatt's HACCP and food-safety standards.
• Monitor product quality and freshness, reporting concerns to Chef or Stewarding.
• Coordinate with front-of-house and banquet teams to meet service demands and event timelines.
• Assist in menu and feature development through feedback and testing.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in all kitchen areas; follow all safety protocols.
• Participate in inventory counts, product ordering, and waste-reduction initiatives.
• Perform other culinary duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Minimum 3 years culinary experience in a high-volume or fine-dining environment.
• Proven technical skills in sauté, grill, sauce, and garde-manger production.
• Strong knife and plating skills with emphasis on detail and consistency.
• Comprehensive understanding of food safety, sanitation, and allergen awareness.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure, maintaining professionalism and calm demeanor.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Flexible schedule availability including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Culinary degree or equivalent certification preferred but not required.
