The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 3 in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The ideal candidate will provide administrative support to the Mechanical Engineering Department Chair, faculty, staff, and students. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, processing purchasing card transactions; preparing new hire entries in Workday for temporary hourly employees, undergraduate workers, volunteers, and graduate assistants; scheduling department courses; creating purchasing requisitions; maintaining electronic office files; initiating spend authorizations and expense reports; coordinating job candidate and guest speaker accommodations; and initiating and tracking department key requests and other duties as assigned.
The Administrative Assistant 3 serves as a primary point of contact for the department's administrative office and works independently to prioritize and manage tasks. This position reports to the departmental NSHE Specialist.

Schedule
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Compensation Grade
Grade 27
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate's qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.

Department Information
The Department of Mechanical Engineering is one of five departments in the College of Engineering. Mechanical Engineering is a dynamic department within a rapidly growing R1 research university. The ME Department has initiated an Aerospace Engineering (AE) Program with major and graduate programs starting soon. The department currently offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Aerospace Engineering. It is ABET accredited and has approximately 800 undergraduate and 40 graduate students. The university recently completed a $14-million renovation of the Mechanical Engineering building in 2017. Departmental resources include access to the University's High-Performance Computing facility, and a 5700 sq. ft. Aerospace Engineering Experimental Station secured in support of the Department's new aerospace engineering program.
