Summary
The Security Officer is responsible for for ensuring the security, safety, and well-being of all Carson Tahoe Health staff, patients, visitors, and properties. This is accomplished through actively patrolling, identifying security issues, and correcting deficiencies at all Carson Tahoe Health properties.
Responsibilities
• Responds to the needs and inquiries of the Carson Tahoe Health community, and strives for a safe and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors. Supports and creates a community based model and sets standards for cross-disciplinary work to improve customer service.
• Responds to all calls for service and ensures the making of reports and maintaining records.
• Promote crime prevention and utilize proactive techniques to reduce crime, theft and loss of Carson Tahoe Health property.
• Uses resources to respond to incidents, including emergencies and code gray violent events.
• Will be required to administer patient restraints when authorization is provided by an approved medical practitioner.
• Positively interact with Carson City Sheriff's Department, Nevada Department of Corrections, and other county, state, federal and out of state law enforcement agencies to build and continue a positive working relationship.
• Maintains security and access systems.
• Verifies identity of visitors and escorts to and from secure locations.
• Completes required paperwork, such as inventories, check-sheets, and reports.
• Communicate important security and safety information and incidents to next shift.
• Patrol premises to secure property and personnel. Monitors surveillance equipment to assure security of premises.
• Respond calmly to emergencies such as visitors requiring first aid.
• Report defects and deficiencies of the equipment and vehicles immediately, check all inventory items at the beginning and end of shift, and report discrepancies to Security Supervisor.
• Conduct audits of alarms, locks and security equipment.
• Collaborates with other departments including, but not limited to, Biomed and Plant Operations, to plan facility and equipment checks by vendors as relates to life safety and security.
• Must successfully complete all required departmental and organizational training programs within 90 days.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Required
o High school diploma or equivalent
o Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (BLS) for Healthcare Providers within ninety (90) days of hire
o Two (2) years experience in security, law enforcement or related field
o Current unrestricted Driver's license and proof of personal auto insurance
o Current NVCI/CPI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) certification or initial training certification within ninety (90) days of hire
• Preferred
o Military police or law enforcement experience
o Security and/or healthcare experience with high acuity level psychiatric patients
