SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
- Emergency response clean-ups(water, sewer, petroleum, hazardous materials)
- Viral/bacterial outbreak response and impact cleaning at schools/sites
- Screening gym floors, carpet extraction, and carpet repair
- Minor maintenance repairs, grounds work, and painting duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIESCustodial Duties- Sweep, mop, scrub, shampoo, and wax various floor surfaces
- Vacuum, repair, and steam clean carpets and rugs
- Dust, wash, and polish furniture, fixtures, shelving, counters, and woodwork
- Clean walls, desks, tables, blackboards, whiteboards
- Deep clean and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, and showers
- Fill soap and paper dispensers
- Clean windows; empty trash and recycling
- Restock custodial supplies
Specialized Utility Crew Functions- Maintain operational and training records
- Inventory and maintain specialized equipment and supplies
- Repair and maintain equipment for gym floor work, emergency response, etc.
Maintenance & Grounds Work- Replace lights, paint rooms or trim
- Remove/tag broken furniture; remove carpet, tile, or cabinetry
- Report vandalism and items needing repair
- Perform seasonal grounds work (snow removal, mowing, weeding, irrigating, trash pickup)
- Set alarms, secure windows and doors in assigned areas
Furniture & Room Setup- Move and assemble furniture and equipment
- Set up rooms/auditoriums for meetings, events, and activities
Summer/Break Period Duties- Intensive facility cleaning and restoration
- Move and stack furniture
- Wash walls and woodwork
- Paint interior/exterior surfaces
- Strip, seal, and wax floors using power equipment
- Screen gym floors districtwide
- Assist with capital projects, construction, and remodels
Emergency ResponseMay be called off-hours for district-wide emergencies, including:
- Burglaries, vandalism, fires
- Snow removal
- Equipment failures and flooding
- Viral/bacterial outbreak response
QUALIFICATIONSAny combination of education and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills would be:
Education
- High school diploma is desirable but not required.
Experience:
- Six months to one year of reliable custodial experience, or equivalent maintenance training and experience.

New employees will be fingerprinted upon hire and every five years thereafter and will have $58.50 deducted from their first paycheck to help defray the cost of fingerprinting.
