Summary:

Meta is a recognized leader in investing in terrestrial and subsea network infrastructure. As we expand our network globally to support our data centers and growing user base, it is crucial that we develop, operate, and manage our infrastructure in a compliant and efficient manner. We are looking for an experienced Environmental Compliance Program Manager to lead environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance for our fiber optic cable projects. You will primarily oversee and mitigate environmental risks for terrestrial network initiatives, collaborating with diverse teams including network investments, construction, legal, and communications.

This role requires comprehensive technical expertise in environmental permitting, strong communication skills, and exceptional organizational abilities. Reporting to the Head of the Environment & Water Team within the Infra Data Center group, this position may require travel about 20% of the time for site visits and meetings with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee environmental due diligence for terrestrial network infrastructure projects, including assessments and permitting.
  2. Lead and maintain environmental compliance efforts throughout construction and operations, addressing air quality, stormwater management, and spill prevention among others.
  3. Guide consultants and internal teams in evaluating environmental conditions, compliance requirements, and operational plans.
  4. Prepare and submit essential reports and notifications to governmental agencies.
  5. Develop and track metrics indicating Key Performance Indicators for environmental compliance.
  6. Create and implement training tools to help network teams understand regulatory obligations.
  7. Investigate environmental incidents, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
  8. Conduct compliance assessments and effectively communicate findings and solutions.
  9. Be prepared to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, planning, or a related field.
  2. 7+ years of experience in environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance.
  3. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with diverse stakeholders effectively.
  4. Experience in conveying complex regulatory information in a clear manner.
  5. Proficient in managing confidential information and skilled in data management tools.
  6. Background working in tech organizations, applying best practices in innovative settings.
  7. Ability to identify and mitigate risks associated with environmental compliance.
  8. Experience in reviewing engineering plans and contract specifications.
  9. Track record of developing and implementing effective environmental compliance programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Advanced degree in environmental science, engineering, planning or related field.
  2. Experience in telecom or data center infrastructure programs.
  3. Knowledge of air, wetlands, and stormwater compliance across various projects.

Public Compensation:

$160,000/year to $232,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
