Key Responsibilities:
Ensure qualitycontrol by managing specimen accession processes accurately.
Augment diagnostic accuracy by compiling and documenting relevant clinical histories.
Prepare tissue specimens for histological analysis by describing anatomical features and performing precise dissections.
Collect biological samples for analysis, including viral and blood cultures, and conduct specialized procedures such as tumor triage and coronary artery perfusion.
Capture and document images of significant gross specimens and microscopic slides.
Maintain administrative records of surgical pathology protocols, ensuring all reports, protocols, and slides are accurately filed and coded.
Support accurate postmortem examinations through preparation and documentation.
Participate in the Quality Management Committee to drive continuous quality improvements.
Address and resolve case-related issues, assisting pathologists in achieving precise diagnostic outcomes.
Manage the departmental staffing schedule to maintain seamless operations.
Develop and implement training programs to enhance staff skills and productivity.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide recommendations for corrective actions when necessary.
Education and Certification Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Laboratory Science.
Completion of a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists' Assistant Program.
Experience:
Open to recent graduates from accredited Pathologists' Assistant programs.
Additional Requirements:
Pass a visual color discrimination test.
Complete annual continuing education units as per state licensure and/or ASCP guidelines.
