Summary:
The Safety & Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and hospitable environment for colleagues, guests, and visitors. This role performs routine patrols, responds to incidents and emergencies, and enforces property policies with professionalism and sound judgment. The PM/Swing shift requires strong attention to detail, calm decision-making, and consistent visibility throughout the resort, including casino, public areas, colleague spaces, and outdoor locations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Conduct continuous interior and exterior patrols of the hotel, casino, parking areas, and colleague facilities.
• Monitor and respond to radio calls, alarms, and incident reports.
• Provide immediate response to medical incidents; administer basic first aid until EMS arrives.
• Assist with guest and colleague situations involving disturbances, safety concerns, or welfare checks.
• Complete clear, detailed incident documentation in accordance with hotel standards.
• Support emergency procedures, including evacuations, fire response, lost children/parents, and severe weather protocols.
• Escort cash drops, deliveries, and restricted-access vendors as required.
• Safeguard property assets by observing behaviors, preventing theft, and reporting suspicious activity.
• Enforce established policies consistently while maintaining a guest-focused approach.
• Assist with handling lost & found items, logging and securing property per policy.
• Work collaboratively with front office, casino operations, engineering, and other departments to ensure safety and security throughout the resort.
• Maintain knowledge of local laws, property emergency plans, and SOPs.
• Uphold professional presence, communication, and behavior at all times.
Qualifications:
• Previous security, military, law enforcement, or hospitality safety experience preferred.
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification preferred or must be obtained within 30 days.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions in urgent situations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and patrol for extended periods.
• Must be able to work the PM/Swing Shift, weekends, holidays, and varied scheduling as operational needs require.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Work Environment
• High guest-contact environment including hotel, casino, public spaces, and outdoor areas in varying weather conditions.
• Frequent walking and patrolling across a large property footprint.
