An Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist is a specialized medical imaging professional who assists physicians in performing minimally invasive, image-guided procedures used to diagnose and treat a variety of conditions. They operate advanced imaging equipment such as fluoroscopy, CT, and ultrasound to guide procedures including angioplasty, stent placement, biopsies, and embolizations. IR Techs prepare and position patients, maintain a sterile field, monitor patient status during procedures, and ensure proper use of contrast agents and radiation safety protocols. Working closely with interventional radiologists and clinical teams, they play a critical role in supporting precise, safe, and efficient procedures in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
