The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Student Worker to serve as a Fitness and Recreational Sports Lifeguard at the Lombardi. This position is responsible for enforcement of all aquatic programs policy and procedures, responding to water and medical emergencies, sets-up and breaks down request for special programs when necessary, and conduct general pool maintenance.

The Fitness and Recreational Sports department goal is to ensure a fun and safe environment for patrons and staff at the Lombardi pool.

Responsibilities
  • Enforce aquatic program policy and procedures
  • Effectively communicate with patrons, student staff and professional staff
  • Attend all required trainings and meetings
  • Assess and ensure safe environment for patrons and staff
  • Conduct general pool maintenance
  • Work special events at the Lombardi pool
  • On time arrival for all shifts, trainings and events
  • Respond to water and medical emergencies
  • Some evening and weekend work as required
  • Support supervisors
Required Qualifications
  • Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno
  • Candidate must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and is participating in the "30 to Finish" annual credit requirement
  • Lifeguards must possess a good attitude and strong communication skills
Required Certifications
  • Candidate must have a current Lifeguard Red Cross Certification
  • CPR (Provided by FRS if needed)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Students with Work Study are encouraged to apply
Schedule

Expected hours to work per week: 10 - 20

Compensation Grade

Student Employee Level 1

$12.75/hr
