OverviewThe Nevada Department of Wildlife, Fisheries Division, is recruiting for a position to coordinate and direct the aquatic species management program for the prevention, monitoring, and control of aquatic invasive species (AIS) in Nevada. The incumbent will develop and implement the Nevada Aquatic Invasive Species Management Plan and represent the agency on state and regional committees.ResponsibilitiesCoordinate with other agencies to crews, volunteers, and other agencies.Coordinate with state, federal, and tribal agencies and the public in implementing the state program and in coordinated regional AIS containment and prevention efforts.Implement the Nevada Aquatic Invasive Species Management Plan and represent the agency on state and regional committees and working groups.Train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff as assigned.Perform program research, planning, analysis, and evaluation.Draft proposed legislation, policies, procedures, and regulations related to wildlife management programs and activities throughout the State.Participate in developing program budgets, collecting and analyzing financial and statistical data, and assessing needs and available resources.Develop program plans, including five‑year, biennial, and annual plans; establish timelines and objectives.Research, develop, prepare, and coordinate grant application proposals to secure federal funding and amend federal aid grants as needed.Compile, analyze, and interpret research and survey data; develop and maintain databases; provide summary narratives and statistical reports.Establish training requirements, document training needs, and coordinate findings and plans with other governmental agencies.Provide the public and the scientific community with information through pamphlets, wildlife plans, technical papers, and other publications.Respond to inquiries or requests for information, communicate with governmental agencies, organizations, and special interest groups.Coordinate printing, publishing, and distribution of materials; prepare information for release to the media.QualificationsBachelor's degree in wildlife management, biology, or a closely related field.Four years of professional experience that included organizing, planning, and completing management studies, writing technical reports, and preparing species or land‑use management plans and recommendations related to wildlife management.Alternatively, one year of experience as a Biologist III in Nevada State service, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Working Knowledge OfGeneral life histories, ecology, habitats, and population dynamics of wildlife species.Statistical analysis and techniques.Research techniques and principles such as population modeling.Federal aid manuals and guidelines.General Knowledge OfCurrent technological solutions related to wildlife management applications.Ability ToRead, understand, and interpret documents, technical papers, manuals, and
